FAQ

ARE ALL YOUR CLASSES IN ENGLISH?

Our studio community is divers and international and we love it. Classes held in Englisch only are marked accordingly in our schedule. All other classes are held in German and / or English depending on demand, but you can expect the majority of classes to be in English.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?

Please arrive roughly 15 minutes early for your first visit. This will allow enough time for registration and a brief orientation or questions before class begins.
We encourage you to sign in online which will save you time at check-in and secure your space in class. Studio doors open 30 minutes prior to the class start time. Please be respectful of students currently in practice while you wait for your class to begin.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING FOR CLASS?

Just yourself & anything that supports your practice. We have mats available but encourage you to bring your own. We also have a wide selection of yoga props available for you to use: yoga blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets.

If you know you tend to be on the sweatier side please bring a sufficient yoga towel to help with any slipping. You can also buy towels in our studio shop.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear simple, breathable clothing that does not limit your range of motion. A light outfit will work well for most of our active classes, while it may be nice to have a few more layers for Yin or Restorative classes where there is less/no vigorous movement. No shoes are allowed in the yoga room, and we don't recommend wearing any socks during practice.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS THAT I SIGNED UP FOR?

If you pre-register but do not attend this might keep another student from being able to join the practice. You can cancel your registration until 6 hours before class starts. If you cancel later or do not show up you will be charged for the class.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR CLASS? IS THERE A WAITLIST IF A CLASS IS FULL?

Check the class schedule online and register or purchase any classes/memberships through our website beforehand. This will ensure your space in class is held as some of our classes can fill up quickly. By clicking onto a specific class in our schedule you will be forwarded to our booking platform „Eversports“. Register, book your class and you’re all set. If a class is full we add a waitlist where spots may be come available but we cannot make any guarantees. If a spot becomes available, you will be notified by a push message, so please make sure to enable them when setting up your Eversports account.

By booking online, your space is reserved until the beginning of class. If you are not present and checked in by the class start, your space will be given to a waitlist student.

WHAT TYPE OF CLASS SHOULD I ATTEND?

There is a class for everyone at SWEET SPOT! Please take a look at our class descriptions and our online class schedule to see our current offerings. If you are new to yoga we recommend starting with our MINDFUL MORNING, RECHARGE, YOGA THERAPEUTICS or KATONAH YOGA classes. We also periodically offer our YOGA FUNDAMENTALS course, check our Workshops and Events section for details.

I HAVE AN INJURY, CAN I STILL PRACTICE YOGA?

That depends. Please check in with your doctor first! Many students find yoga to be a helpful resource when working through an injury but it depends on the specifics and severity. Please consult with your doctor and let your teacher know what is going on so that we can work through any necessary modifications for class. We are here to help, but we are not qualified to diagnose any injuries or illness so your physician and your own intuition are the first lines of defense when working with an injury.

I'M PREGNANT, CAN I STILL COME TO CLASS? WHICH ONE WOULD BE BEST FOR ME?

That depends. Please check in with your doctor first! If you've had a steady practice before pregnancy, likely you'll be able to enjoy continuing your practice throughout - but if you've never stepped on a yoga mat before, now may not be the best time to jump into a vigorous vinyasa class. We'd recommend you take a private with Birgit who specializes in prenatal yoga and can support you in exploring your unique needs in this journey.
If you feel comfortable joining our public classes, let the teachers know, they are all trained to support you with modifications and adaptions if needed. If you have any questions regarding yoga during your pregnancy please reach out to Birgit.

Postpartum. As every pregnancy is highly individual, so is your postpartum period. Fully recovering from pregnancy and childbirth takes months and yoga and meditation can be incredibly valuable during this journey. After a first period of rest of 6 weeks and having been cleared from your doctor we are here to support you step by step.

DO YOU OFFER ONE ON ONE TRAININGS? HOW COULD A YOGA PRIVATE LOOK LIKE?

Working one-on-one is a great way to hone in on whatever part of your practice you wish. Are you brand new to yoga and would like to create a foundation of basic postures and breath work before taking a public class? Do you want to understand how specific postures work in your body? Do you want to get back into the practice after a (yoga) break due to an injury or life change? Please reach out to us by mail hello@sweetspot-yoga.com or phone.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ONLINE CLASS AND A SWEET SPOT TV CLASS?

Online classes are run through Zoom and run on a weekly schedule. They are included in your SWEET SPOT membership. If you cannot join the Live - Online class we will send out a link to access the recording. This recording will be available for 48 hours. We offer these classes to foster community and connect in real-time with our students. SWEET SPOT TV classes are pre-recorded, produced at a high quality and then uploaded to our Library for you to access anytime, anywhere.
